Easter 2014 Confirmation Twenty eight of our pupils received the sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday 29th March. Bishop Kieran O Reilly officiated at the ceremony. All the pupils assure us they had a great day and enjoyed the ceremony. They looked fantastic and didn’t let the typical Irish weather dampen the day. School Self Evaluation The Maths for Fun Programme will begin on Wednesday next for the pupils of First and Fourth Class. There will be six sessions in total. On the last day we will have a party for the four classes who take part in the programme, along with all the parents who participated. Certificates will be presented on the day too. Grandparents Day Once again Grandparents Day was a terrific success. The children were delighted so many of their grandparents could come on the day. First there was a short prayer service in the hall where we thanked God for all our wonderful grandparents....

Board of Management School Uniform Questionnaire As requested by the Department of Education and Skills a survey on school uniforms was held in the school before Christmas.  Below are the results of the survey.  A total of 153 families were surveyed and of those 135 were returned.  These were counted by the Principal Brendan Hanamy and the Chairperson of the Parents Association Michelle Ryan with the following result: Part 1: Do you want a school uniform for this school? Scoil Chrónáin Naofa, Dromakeenan September Newsletter 2013     School Mass School Chaplin Fr Michael Harding came to the school on Tuesday last to celebrate the new school year with a mass, and to remember our friend and classmate Sophie who passed away during the Summer.  The Reading and Psalm were read by Scott and Neil , Prayers of the Faithful were read by Sophie in First Class, Clodagh in Second Class, Bill in Third Class, Katie in Fourth Class, Aisling in Fifth Class and Eoghan  represented Sixth Class.  Leanne  brought a Memory Book to the altar along with Sadhbh  and Aoife...

Scoil Chrónáin Naofa, Dromakeenan May Newsletter First Communion Class 2013   Green Flag Ceremony Members of our Green Schools committee collected our Fourth Green Flag in Athlone last week.  Liam O Neill, President of the GAA will come to the school on Monday 17th June at 11 00 am to raise the Green Flag and to present medals to our football panel who won the Offaly Championship at the beginning of the year.  Refreshments will be served in the hall following the ceremony and all are welcome.   Write a Book Congratulations to all the pupils who took part in the Write a Book competition. ...

Dromakeenan’s Got Talent Pupils from Jared Madden’s School of Speech and Drama performed “Dromakeenan’s Got Talent” last week which was a roaring success.  The pupils showed their talents off to a very appreciative audience.  Junior and Senior Infants stole the show once again with their songs and poem.  First and Second Class performed “Rumble in the Jungle”, while 3rd and 4th Class brought the story of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to life for the audience.  Fifth and Sixth were the rejected by the judges in Dromakeenan’s Got Talent but finished up with great renditions...

Scoil Chrónáin Naofa February Newsletter 2013   Green School 5 km Cycle Pupils from Fifth and Sixth Class took part in our Green School 5 km Cycle on Tuesday 19th February.  It was a fantastic success with over 45 children taking part.  They cycled through our local area taking in such scenic areas as Golden Grove Woods and Orange Hill.  Garda Chris O Meara came in on his day off to give us a safety talk and accompany us on the cycle.  Thank you to Garda Mark Kelly and Senan Gardiner from An Taisce who also accompanied us and brought reflective jackets for those who didn’t have any...

  January Newsletter 2013 Board of Management Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn T.D. has asked that all parents of pre-school and primary school children complete a survey on school patronage and pluralism in the primary sector.  Roscrea Parish has been chosen as one of the areas in which this survey will be carried out. Parents have received information on different types of schools and the different possible patron bodies and are now being asked to complete the survey.
