For the last 12 weeks, Senior Infants have been working really hard on their reading. Under the guidance of Ms Crowley, Mrs Bergin, Ms Leamy, Ms Maher, Ms D’Arcy, Ms Shouldice and Ms Harding; they have had the  opportunity to engage with a wide variety of texts. Not only have they become really good readers but they have also worked extra hard on their writing, comprehension and spelling. We had an award ceremony at assembly this week,  where each child received their certificate. Well done to all involved and a special word of thanks to the parents for their support with this project each...

We were lucky enough to be invited to a talk down in First Class by Eoghan Meagher. Eoghan is the Health and Safety Officer in Coolmore Stud and a parent in the school. We learned that farming is now the most dangerous job  in Ireland. Eoghan taught us about hazzards and what we can do to avoid them. Keeva volunteered to be our safety model and Ms Higgins got “harnessed up” and “locked on” to the projector. Eoghan showed us a video about being safe in the farm yard, especially when slurry is being agitated. Thanks to Eoghan for visiting and teaching us to be safer.

It wouldn’t be Easter without our Easter Hunt. We had great fun searching the shrubs, lawns and the various nooks and crannies of the playground. We even found some fur. It must have fallen off the Easter  Bunny!

As part of our Biodiversity Green Flag, we had an “Action Day” on March 23rd. Senior Infants planted Spring/ Summer bedding plants. We planted primroses and viola behind the infant playground. We each planted one plant. We hope that all the beautiful colours will attract more insects and bees. Our little flower bed also introduces a nice splash of colour to our playground. We’re going to take it in turns to water our flowers (hopefully they will need water) and to dead head them!

We took part in Maths 4 Fun before Christmas. We all received Certificates for participation before Easter. A huge thank you to the parents who gave so generously of their time to come in and play with us. We really did have fun

Well by the looks of the “STYLE” in Senior Infants,  there were quite alot of children (and  maybe a few parents) up very early this morning. We had a great display of both colour and creativity in Seniors! Take a look at our creations.

What a great day in school!!! 4th class with the help of Ms. O’Meara put on a great show for senior infants to celebrate World Book Day. Students from 4th class dressed up and re-enacted some of our favourite fairy tales. Seniors had to guess which fairy tale was being dramatised!! 4th class also recited some very entertaining poems. Later in the afternoon the students from 4th read stories to senior infants. A really enjoyable daywas had by all!!   [slideshow_deploy id=’4107′]
