Scoil Chrónáin Naofa, Dromakeenan

Super Valu held a colouring competition recently – the prize was breakfast in the Cosy Kitchen.  As a class we were thrilled when Ben won the individual prize of an art set as this also meant we were all going for breakfast!!   We had loads to eat – sausages and toast and lots of drinks.  We were delighted to receive a chocolate Advent calendar along with some goodies to bring home with us.  When we were finished Aoibhe’s dad organised a visit to the Garda Station for us.  We were thrilled to climb into the squad car and be put in the cells!   CIMG4588 CIMG4591 CIMG4592 CIMG4597 CIMG4609 CIMG4608 CIMG4607 CIMG4606 CIMG4605 CIMG4602 CIMG4599 CIMG4594 CIMG4597 Wordpress... 

Well done to Harry in Second Class who won the Super Valu Colouring competition recently.  Harry, along with his classmates, teacher Ms Kinsella and SNA Josie visited the Cosy Kitchen for breakfast where Brian Colclough presented Harry with a tablet as his prize.  Well done Harry.               

Second Class had great fun designing and making their very own Grass Heads. We used old tights, soil, and grass seeds! We can’t wait to see how they grow!      

On Thursday last we celebrated Grandparents Day and welcomed grandparents of the pupils in 2nd and 6th Class to our prayer service for Catholic Schools week. There was a great turn out with over 40 grandparents in attendance.   Some of the grandparents were former pupils of Dromakeenan! After the prayer service grandparents accompanied their grandchildren to their classrooms where they were given a tour of the room, there was great excitement from both young and not so young! Sixth Class showed their grandparents their weaving and grandparents even joined in! Second Class interviewed their grandparents... 

Second class enjoyed the storytelling of Neil de Búrca recently. We particularly enjoyed his stories about the New Zealand Shark!  

Mrs Meagher and Ms Kinsella organised a fun hurling league for their classes over the last few weeks of school.  Six teams fought their way to play in the semi final and Final. Mr Hanamy refereed the Final match and presented certificates to the winning team. The  player of the League was awarded to Kelsey Wing in second class.        

In class we wrote and illustrated our own books for junior and senior infants. Today we had the opportunity to do shared reading with the younger children. We had great fun even though some of audience were quite difficult to impress.  

Thirty Four pupils from the school made their First Holy Communion on  Sunday last.   It was a very special ceremony.  The children had prepared well for the sacrament and all the preparation showed on the day.   Well done everybody!
